"My artworks are reflections of my mind and things that have struck me in daily life. As a shy person, painting allows me to express myself freely and confidently. Last year, I explored the subject of food because I noticed how obsessed I was with sugary treats. This obsession with sweets was truly a love-hate relationship for me, because I love studying and tasting desserts but at the same time I’ve struggled with body image issues from a young age and feel guilty for purchasing, making or even looking at desserts. However, this year I moved on to the subject of cityscape reflections and distortions, with the aim of self-exploration along the way, as I am about to enter a new stage in life. When I walk around a city I am always captivated by the reflections on windows and glass curtain walls of buildings surrounding me. It is just a small detail in life that often goes unnoticed. The reflections sometimes get so distorted that they resemble little about the 'real world' and looking deep into them is like meditation for me, as I am able to escape into that moment of stillness and sink into my own thoughts."
